Spiritual Counsel is not therapy, though it can be therapeutic. Sometimes it just helps to feel heard. Together we create a spacious, non-judgmental place for you to safely reflect on your life’s issues with Spirit in mind and in heart.
We work within the parameters and symbols of Spirit as it speaks to you, the symbols of your path, and bring our attention to the movement of Spirit in your life. We may pray together, explore your chart to help you return to yourself, or put together simple rituals that support your process.
I listen, I ask questions and mirror back, and let Spirit do the work. We can meet once, a few times around a crisis or transition point, or regularly while you need it. I leave it up to you.
Baby Namings are a way to honor the sacred power of a new life, their connection to Spirit, and your intentions to bring it up in a way that honors hers or his soul and soul-path. It invokes protection, implicitly or explicitly, for the new one and offers a chance for your family, friends and community to welcome your child into the world and promise their support.
Baptism of an adult is a way of making the end of an era in a life, cleansing and sanctifying yourself in the present, and initiating a new path for the future. I do not baptize a being into any particular faith (for that you need to return to the church or temple in question) but into the path of Spirit.
We can make the baby-welcoming or baptism as simple or complex as you like, drawing from the traditions and symbols that mean most to you and your family.
Ceremonies and Memorials
Ceremonies and blessings can ease our way from one phase of our life to another, help us set our intention and call in our personal and spiritual resources to bless a new place or process in our life. We can make the blessing so subtle the guest think they are at an ordinary house warming, work with a modest, informal ceremony, or drop into deep ritual. I’ll ask what you want to invoke, ask about your traditions and ideas, and then weave your unique offering. I will be happy to perform your ceremony, or consult with you on one you’d like to perform alone or with your family/circle/friends
Rites of passage for any major turning point that needs honor, grace and support:
- Blessingways for pregnant woman or burgeoning project.
- Coming of Age ceremonies (if the child/adult agrees).
- Separation ceremonies to change relationship paths with love and respect.
- Releasing ceremonies for when person, place or idea needs to be released
to make room for the future.
- Queen-ceremony at the end of menopause.
- Croning or Eldering to offer honor as a person steps into wise-one role later on.
- Healing circles or bedside visits for the un-well.
- Seasonal rituals for the family or community.
Funerals and Memorials: Nothing is more personal. And nothing can be harder to put together under times of stress. A family and community are transformed, and yet the very process of honoring the deceased, as well as the grief and traditions of the family and friends they come from, can be healing. It is an honor to walk through this transition with you.
I believe in finding a kind and gentle place between what the deceased wanted, how they needed to be remembered, and what the surviving family wants and needs. We can perform a simple memorial service or graveside funeral, to a more elaborate funeral or memorial service as fits your unique situation and beloved. I will be happy to help you write the obituary if needed.
I will ask you about what your beloved wanted, did they leave any specific requests? What was their spiritual path, their personal and musical tastes, what did they love. I will ask about the spiritual paths and needs of the attending family members, and what would bring them comfort. Some people prefer not to have a single eulogy, but to allow several family members or friends speak or just open the floor to memories. Others find a single eulogy comforting as it allows those attending to just experience and feel, and not worry about what they, or anybody else, are going to say.
